2008 Firefighter of the Year

Joshua Gibson was recognized as Templeton Firefighter of the Year at the Annual Templeton Firefighter’s Association [TFA] Awards Dinner on January 29.

The award is presented to the Templeton firefighter who has shown outstanding dedication and performance throughout the previous year.

Since 2003, Gibson has served the community of Templeton as a volunteer firefighter, answering calls for help from his fellow citizens at all hours of the day and night – whether at work, at home, or at play, with family or friends.

Like his fellow Templeton firefighters, Gibson has dedicated many, many hours to honing his skills and expertise, while furthering his education and training.

“Joshua combines a maturity, a great attitude, and a tremendous dedication to the fire department,” said Templeton Fire Chief Greg O’Sullivan.

In addition to the training and year of fire department drills required to become a member of the Templeton Fire Department, Gibson has also earned State Certified Firefighter I, continued his training by attending State certified wildland, vehicle extrication, and rescue system courses, in addition to currently attending classes to become a Hazardous Materials Technician.
