2004 Firefighter of the Year

Firefighter Tony Cappelluti was recognized as 2004 Firefighter of the Year at the Templeton Firefighters’ Annual Recognition and Appreciation Dinner held Saturday, January 22nd. The award is given to the firefighter whose performance, dedication and concern for the department throughout the year stood above the rest. The Firefighter of the Year is selected by their peers and confirmed by the Chief Officers.

Tony became a member of the Department in 1998, having completed the required training and attending fire department drills for over a year. Tony has furthered his training by attending Hazard Materials, Scene Command and Rescue courses. Tony is a member of the Diablo Canyon Fire Department, is married to wife Maryanne and has two children, Joe and Julianne.

“Tony combines a great personality, a great attitude, and a tremendous dedication to the fire department,” said Fire Chief Greg O’Sullivan.

Other awards presented at the dinner included: Fifteen-year service bar to Captain Tom Peterson along with five-year service bars to Engineer Tony Cappelluti and firefighters, Joe Franzone, Bill and Joseph Gibson. A one-year service plaque was presented to Faith Jewell. Firefighter with most calls went to Steve Barckley, who responded to 357 of the Departments 531 emergency calls. Three firefighters were recognized for attending 100% of all training drills, they included Faith Estrada, Tony Futch, and Scott Reynolds.
