2000 Firefighter of the Year

Firefighter Steve Barckley was recently recognized as 2000 Firefighter of the Year at the Templeton Fierefighters’ Annual Recognition and Appreciation Dinner.

The award is given to the firefighter whose performance, dedication and concern for the department throughout the year stood above the rest. The Firefighter of the Year is selected by his or her peers and confirmed by the Chief Officers.

Barckley became a member of the Department in 1988, having completed the required training and attending the fire department drills for over a year. In 2000, he successfully obtained the required State certifications. Barckley responded to 228 of 342 medical and fire emergency calls over the past year.

Templeton Imaging employs Barkley as a medical records supervisor. When not responding to emergency incidents, he finds time to be an active coach and supporter for Girl’s Softball in Templeton. He is supported in his volunteer efforts by his wife Debbie and daughter Kristina. The Barckleys have been residents of Templeton since 1994. The award for the Firefighter With Most Responses was also awarded to Firefighter Barckley.
