1998 Firefighter of the Year

Most people don’t like to see the local fire department show up at their front door; however, if Templeton’s Mike Erb happens to one of those firefighters you can rest assured that you are in good hands.

Erb’s outstanding efforts as a firefighter were recognized recently when he was selected as the 1998 Templeton Firefighter of the year.

Over the course of the past year, Erb responded to well over 150 emergency calls, both medical and fire in nature. In all, Erb has dedicated the past 16 years of his life to volunteering at the department.

Erb’s motivation is the same now as it was when he was 21. Erb likes to help people and develop friendships with the department’s other volunteers.

When asked to describe Erb’s contribution to his department, Templeton Fire Chief Greg O’Sullivan said, “He’s a team player who makes the fire department a better place. He is respected by his peers and his involvement in extra-curricular activities enhances his knowledge of firefighting.”

Erb is a native of Templeton where he lives with his wife, Wendy and their two children. In addition to his full time dedication to the fire department he is employed by Mid-Coast Geo-Techical. In what little spare time he has at times disposal, Erb is active in coaching youth basketball and baseball.
