DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A

PAID CALL FIREFIGHTER?

The tradition of the Fire Service across our nation has always been one of overflowing pride, bravery, and a sense of duty. For more than 90 years the Templeton Paid Call Firefighters have been answering their neighbors’ calls for help, last year responding to nearly 780 incidents involving fires, emergency medical and other emergency services.

As a member of the department our fundamental duty is to safeguard life, protect property and preserve the environment. As a member of the department we strive to maintain the highest standards of integrity and perform to the best of our abilities, conducting ourselves at all times in such a manner as to create respect for ourselves, the fire department and the community of Templeton.

The Department’s apparatus and equipment is top notch and the Department’s firefighters take great pride in maintaining all equipment to high standards.

The Department’s firefighters are involved for a variety of reasons, some hope to use the training and experience received to springboard them into a career (paid) position, while others enjoy the excitement and challenge. For whatever the reason, everyone who does participate does so because they feel they are providing a valuable service to the community in which they live and all share the same commitment of constantly striving to provide the highest level of service possible.

Membership in the Templeton Fire and Emergency Services starts with a letter of interest, application, an interview, and a physical examination (at the Department’s expense). The successful candidate will begin attending the bi-weekly training meetings while attending countywide training courses to meet the minimum training requirements. After all training requirements are met, the Department’s Officers will evaluate your application for membership.

Throughout your career as a firefighter, training will be your cornerstone. The Department prides itself on providing professional instruction in fire attack methods, rescue techniques and personal safety to name a few.

Some times the hours are long—the work is dirty—and the situations are hazardous. Your greatest driving force will be your pride in the organization. If you believe you have what it takes to meet the challenges of our business, we welcome you to join our team.
