Wildland Fire – Atascadero Assist

Templeton Fire Department was called out on July 18 at 2:26 p.m. to assist Atascadero Fire Department with two small vegetation fires.

The Atascadero Fire Department says the fires that broke out along the Atascadero Creek Friday afternoon were caused by a young man with a lighter.

The first fire was reported around 2:20 p.m. on the 9100 block of Morro Road. Firefighters say it burned less than an acre.

The second fire was reported less than 10 minutes later on the 8500 block of Piedras Altos. Firefighters say that fire burned about an acre.

No structures were damaged, but fire officials say seven firefighters were stung by bees because two bee hives were located in the area of the second fire.
