Green Waste Chipping Days

WHAT: FREE Spring clean-up chipping program, sponsored by the Fire Safe Council and the Templeton Community Services District.

WHEN: April 28th – May 2nd, 2014

WHERE: All residences within the Templeton Community Services District.

WHY: Chipping is a healthy, safe and economical alternative to backyard burning, which is now prohibited due to Air Pollution Control District requirements. Plus, leftover chips help to slow water evaporation, spruce up the yard, and even replenish nutrients in the soil.

HOW: Registration is required for all on-site residential chipping. To register, fill out the form below and return to the Templeton Community Services District office by April 21st. No sign-ups after that date will be accepted.

• Material to be chipped must be clean yard waste that can be chipped – no metal, nails, barbwire, garbage, rocks, etc.

NOT ALLOWED: Poison oak, grass, yucca, vines, piles of leaves, juniper bushes and light vegetation; processed lumber, palm fronds and other non-vegation material.

• Branches cannot be thicker than 4 inches in diameter or seasoned (dry); and should be at least 4 feet in length.

Piles cannot be greater than 1 ton (approximately 15 ft. wide x 15 ft. long x 5 ft. high).

• All material must be piled near the curb (road frontage) by the first morning of the event, in a way that does not create a hazard when chipping equipment is parked. Call 434-4911 if you have questions about where to place your pile.

• Dates to remember: April 21st (registration closes), April 28th (have piles ready, program begins)
