Templeton Fire Chief Jim Langborg has successfully completed a 4-year Executive Fire Office Program (EFOP) through the United States Fire Administration’s National Fire Academy.

1st District Supervisor Frank Mecham presented Langborg with a certificate of completion from the National Fire Academy and congratulated him on his accomplishment at Tuesday night’s Templeton Community Services District (TCSD) Board of Directors meeting.

“I think the community of Templeton is very fortunate to have Chief Langborg and the level of professionalism he brings,” said Mecham. “This accomplishment is no small task.”

The 4-year program of graduate and upper-division baccalaureate-equivalent courses is designed to provide senior officers and others in key leadership roles within fire and emergency services departments with the knowledge and ability to transform their organizations from being reactive to proactive, in conjunction with an emphasis on leadership development, prevention, and risk-reduction.

In addition, the course work focuses on enhanced executive-level knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to transform fire and emergency services organizations to reflect the need of their communities, and stresses the value of research and its application to the profession, as well as the value of life-long learning.

A certificate of completion for the entire EFOP is awarded only after the successful completion of a final research project.
